ULTRAMATERIA transformed Collini’s new industrial hall into a temporary cathedral of media art. Over the course of four days, the space became a laboratory for immersive installations, performative experiments, and critical discourse at the intersection of art, technology, and society.

The festival's curatorial focus was on artistic exploration of key issues of our time: artificial intelligence, sustainability and the future of materiality.

The program included

Large-scale installations & immersive spaces
With works by NEON GOLDEN, Grit Wolany, Miriam Prantl, Addie Wagenknecht, Gerold Tagwerker, and others.

Machine aesthetics between low- and high-tech
With works by Hubert Dobler and AATB.

Performances & interventions
Including contributions by Erdung, Iman Taghadossi, LUV 369, Alexander Stark, Lukas Weithas – exploring the intersections of sound, body, and space.

Discourse & talks
With Hundred Rabbits (Canada), Grit Wolany (ZHdK Zurich), and contributions by Bettina Steindl (designforum Vorarlberg), Marc Hoffenscher (VAI), Dr. Klaus Birk (DHBW Ravensburg), Addie Wagenknecht, AATB (Zurich), Dr. Hubert Matt, Mirjam Steinbock (IG Kultur), Addie Wagenknecht, Pelin Kasar (CEU), and Stefan Kainbacher.

 

Our goal is to establish a sustainable and travelling festival that brings significant art to the region, has an international reach and fosters long-term cooperation between regional and international players. There is a particular focus on knowledge transfer and education for a broad audience. Partnering institutions included the Designforum Vorarlberg, CampusVäre, the Vorarlberg Architecture Institute, the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) with the Centre for Immersive Media and the Galerie am Lindenplatz Vaduz.

ULTRAMATERIA is determined to become a new flagship project for the Lake Constance/Rhine Valley cultural region, with a cooperative network spanning Vorarlberg, Baden-Württemberg, Liechtenstein and Switzerland.
